Your in the ARMY NOW!

This has been a long week so far, but a good one. We are half way done. Breanna got to come with me and see what I do while I am away with the army. She has seen a couple of days of Combatives training. Watching the students learn all of the basics like dominate body posistions. And moving into more advance stuff like the "rear naked choke", all kinds of arm bars and sweeps. And lots of different chokes. Thursday she gets to witness the famous "Achieve the Clinch drill" Its two minutes of a student getting punched in the head and body while they try to apply a clinch to stop the onslaught of fist comming at their face. Each student has to "win" 3 of 4 times in order to graduate this course. I got nerve damage in my face when I went through this course two years ago. But it feels good to know you can do it once it is all over. Pride levels are high when you get that certificate.

So while we were there today it got a little hot and one of the students felt dizzy. I get pretty bored waiting around for someone to get hurt so sad to say but its fun for me when someone gets hurt cause I get to practice my craft. I checked him out and everything was pretty much normal. He was just a little over heated...but in the army, and when your a medic...EVERYTHING calls for an I.V. Sometimes even nothing at all means your getting an I.V. Its been a while since I have stuck someone, but like an old pro I got it the first time. Luck for him, cause I don't waste needles, I like to "fish" until I find it. Its much more economical that way, and the patient will remember me always. I didn't have to fish this time...oh well. He got his fluids and with the needle still in his arm and the bag still hooked up, it was right back to the mat for him. You cant miss training if you want to succeed. He is fine now, and we are looking forward to our next patient.
