Mike vs Food!!!

So I am away for a few days and Rocky and I decided to save a little money by staying with some friends. Rocky and this guy love hot wings so we went to Buffalo Wild wings. The normal wings were good and they have a fun trivia game that we played while eating. As we were enjoying the food and friends, the manager came to the table next to us and started to make the announcement for a challenge. The challenger had to eat 12 of the hottest wings in under 6 minutes. Complete the challenge in under 2 minutes and the wings are free. If you do it you get your picture on the wall and the eternal envy of all your friends. I made up my mind to take the challenge and to beat the time of the guy before me. I was eating wings way faster than him, so in my mind this shouldn't be an issue.
Well it didn't go as well as planned. I started off great. It was a heads up challenge between me and a young asian kid. I was winning, people were cheering, at any minute my picture would be on the wall and bragging rights would be mine. I bit off a little more than I could swallow and the chicken stayed in my mouth a little too long. That was the begining of the end. It was so hot. My eyes started to water, my hands started to shake, and I cant ever even expain what began to happen in my stomach. The asian kid soon caught up, overtook me and won his challenge. After 8 wings, with four to go I gave up.
It was awful. The waitress said sugar would help so I poured a few of those on my tounge, and then tried some water, then someone gave me a soda....none helped, and my stomach was not happy. I decided to leave and on the way out there was the bathroom. I couldn't pass it up....I threw up a boot!!! The picture above is of me after expelling the contents of my stomach. My eyes and lips began to swell. Oh God Please help me!!! On the ride home Rocky and the other guy we were with asked if I could please breath through my nose because the smell from the wings was burning thier eyes....HOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Final Score...Food 1 Mike 0
There will not be a rematch.

Your in the ARMY NOW!

This has been a long week so far, but a good one. We are half way done. Breanna got to come with me and see what I do while I am away with the army. She has seen a couple of days of Combatives training. Watching the students learn all of the basics like dominate body posistions. And moving into more advance stuff like the "rear naked choke", all kinds of arm bars and sweeps. And lots of different chokes. Thursday she gets to witness the famous "Achieve the Clinch drill" Its two minutes of a student getting punched in the head and body while they try to apply a clinch to stop the onslaught of fist comming at their face. Each student has to "win" 3 of 4 times in order to graduate this course. I got nerve damage in my face when I went through this course two years ago. But it feels good to know you can do it once it is all over. Pride levels are high when you get that certificate.

So while we were there today it got a little hot and one of the students felt dizzy. I get pretty bored waiting around for someone to get hurt so sad to say but its fun for me when someone gets hurt cause I get to practice my craft. I checked him out and everything was pretty much normal. He was just a little over heated...but in the army, and when your a medic...EVERYTHING calls for an I.V. Sometimes even nothing at all means your getting an I.V. Its been a while since I have stuck someone, but like an old pro I got it the first time. Luck for him, cause I don't waste needles, I like to "fish" until I find it. Its much more economical that way, and the patient will remember me always. I didn't have to fish this time...oh well. He got his fluids and with the needle still in his arm and the bag still hooked up, it was right back to the mat for him. You cant miss training if you want to succeed. He is fine now, and we are looking forward to our next patient.

A different kind of meal???

So a while back Ryan and I went to a certain place to eat. I dare not name the place for fear of retaliation from their staff. Lets just say that Breanna might work there.
Anyway, I was sooooo hungry!!! I decided that pasta with sausage and meat balls would be delicous. To my surprise, they had a different idea of how the presentation of the meal should look. Never in a million years would I think that a server at a fine dining facility such as this would dare to set a meal that looked like this before me.
Okay, okay. Truth is that I am a pig and the second I got this plate I knew what had to be done. I will do almost any thing for a laugh, so I rearranged the items a bit. I did not touch the food. I would look at every employee right in the eye and then glance down at my plate. No one noticed, and after about ten minutes it was getting frusterating. Finally a male employee/fellow pig saw it and thought it was great.
So my overall rating for the restaurant
Atmosphere 3.5 stars
overall food taste 4.o stars
Food presentation......5.0 stars!!!!!
I highly recomend this for your next dinning experience.

CrAzY AnImALs!!!

Its been a while now but I have been meaning to share this. On New Years day Breanna, Gia and I all went to Oak Glen for the day. Bre and I were trying to decide what to do and nothing seemed that great, but then I remembered Oak Glen Apple Orchards from when Ryan's mom got married. So we headed out just north of Yucaipa.

It was a really nice drive up there, and it was nice to spend time with Bre and Gia. On the winding roads there was still sparse snow and everything was so green. I was excited when we got there, I wasn't sure if anything would be open cause of the holiday but everything was open for bussines. We walked though a couple of shops, and was very happy when Bre didn't have any objections to leaving them. They were sort of a cross between souvineer and antique shops....in other words they were BORING!!! We walked up the hill a ways and saw that there was a petting zoo. I bought Gia a cup of dried corn to feed to the animals and we set off along the trail. It was nice, there were all different kinds of animals and birds in cages and a ways up the trail there was the little petting zoo, and thats where the wierdness began.

At the entrance to the gate was a pig that would not get out of the way, so we had to go in the exit. Then once we bypassed the pig/gate keeper we went in and this cute little goat came running up to us. Everything was fine untill the baby goat knocked the corn out of Gia's hands and then put its hooves up on Gia's shoulders and was staring her right in the face. Gia looked terrified, so I kicked the goat, then the goat started to RAM the other animals that were coming around to eat the dried corn. It was a good time for us to move along to some other animals. We went to pet a llama but the little goat from hell would not leave us alone so we had to get out of there. We moved to the outside of the fence and were about to pet the llama when AAAAA CHEW!!!! The llama sneezed on me and left nasty green somethings on my hand. GROSS!!! And I cant begin to describe the smell.

After our ordeal we thought it might be nice for Gia to ride a cute little pony, what could go wrong right? So there Gia was looking so adorable going around and around on the back of the pony, I turned around to say something to Bre when I saw this look on her face...aparently the pony was done working for food, or needed a day off. It started to buck and jump and poor little Gia was again scared. We took her off the pony and decided to go eat. The food wasn't bad, but it was way over priced, but I think that is usually the case in places like that.

We decided to check out the reptile area...what other wierd stuff could happen today? It didn't take long for us to come across a snake eating a rat that looked exactly like Sammy. Sammy is a rat that belongs to Gia. She named him sammy cause she said he was cute, and now here was sammy's look a like being eatten for lunch, and of course we watched the entire feast. Gia didn't seem to mind.

After seeing the last part of the rat's tail go down the hatch, we left and crossed the street so Gia could play in the snow. There wasn't much but it was fun seeing her run around and have so much fun. It wasn't long before Gia tossed a snow ball, then I launched one back...opps Bre got hit in the cross fire, and I got hit by way too many snow balls. All in all the day was great and as long as Gia isn't too traumatized I would definatley go back for another visit.

Red in the Face

So last night Breanna and I were sitting on the couch watching The Office and we are kind of goofing around and being silly. I pushed her arm away from me and told her not to touch me. Then she puts her hand right up to my face and says "I'm not touching you...I'm not touching you." So I stuck out my tounge and licked her hand...WHACK!!! She slapped my face so hard. I totally grossed her out and that was her first reaction. I think I laughed for about five minutes and it was way worth the slap in the face for the reaction that came from Breanna. It was all my fault any way. I am about the least mature person ever so I guess I get what I deserve, and no I did not learn a lesson from this cause I'm thinking a wet willie might be in someone's near future. HA!!!

Daddy Daughter Date Night

Tonight I asked my daughter Gia to go on a Daddy Daughter date with me. I told her that I would put on my suit, and she could where a nice dress and I would take her to dinner, and afterward we could go on a carriage ride at the mission in. She looked at me like I was some sort of alien and quickly replied, "okay, but I'm not going to kiss you." What a response! I hope she says that to all the boys. I explained that its not like a real date, it was just a time when Daddy get to spend special time with his little girl, and of course there would be no kissing cause that would be sick and gross and lots of other wierd things. I think she understood, so maybe this weekend my little princess and I will go for our carriage ride.

I'm not going to like it!

My friend Rocky had been bugging me for weeks about going to Threshold. Its a climbing gym here in riverside. He would come in and talk about how great it was, and even went so far as to get us all a free pass so we could try it out. I finally agreed to go, but only to prove to him that I would not like it. After all, exercise is not fun, and climbing a rock would be no different to me. I have asked people before why they climb things and what was so exciting about it, and often I have heard lame answers like..."because its there." What ever, I knew I wasn't going to like it but if going there for an hour to prove it was all it would take, I could handle that.

My plan back fired!!! I enjoyed it so much, I signed up for a year and now I am so motivated to get into another shape besides round. I started running again, and hitting the weights, in addition to the climbing and so far I have lost 15 pounds and it hasn't even been a month yet. I'm not great at it yet, but I feel like I'm improving pretty fast. I changed my diet too, and for the first time in a long time I feel like this could be a life style rather than just another diet. So yeah, my narrow mindedness got the best of me again, but it worked out great cause I found something that I really enjoy. Its so cool too, cause my girl friend Breanna seems to like it a lot too and Ryan and Rocky both go there, and its owned by a guy who goes to Sandals church. Now I just have to figure a way to get rid of the blisters on my hands from all the climbing.
Thanks Rocky!!
